Wheelchair users can go when and where they want.
xMove (Cross Move) is a solution that provides autonomous driving function to wheelchairs by installing an automatic driving unit on a commercially available electric wheelchair. Wheelchair users will be able to go when and where they want. They select their destination with buttons or smartphones. By developing xMove, we aim to improve the convenience of wheelchair users and reduce the burden on caregivers' mobility assistance.
Work efficiency is required for the nursing care industry.
There is a shortage of caregivers in Japan due to the low birthrate and aging population. It is estimated that by 2025 there will be a shortage of approximately 340,000 caregivers. At nursing care sites, we are trying to solve the labor shortage by strengthening the monitoring function using cameras and other sensing technologies. The number of man-hours for transportation in nursing care work accounts for 10.7% of the total. xMove reduces man-hours by automating mobility assistance work, to reduce the burden on caregivers and improve job satisfaction.
Safe autonomous driving with multiple sensors
xMove uses the sensors installed in the automatic driving unit and the sensors installed in the facility. By combining multiple sensors with different characteristics, xMove double check the environment and drives itself safely.
Close cooperation with nursing care facilities
The development of xMove is conducted in close cooperation with nursing homes. PxDT conducts prototype test-ride events, uses xMove in actual situations to elicit the requirements, and adds new functions.
