PxDTは来たるべき計算機自然（デジタルネイチャー）時代に備え、計算機とヒトあるいはモノの最適な関係性を形作るための研究開発を行っています。 現在私たちは、ディスプレイ画面から視覚情報を、スピーカーから聴覚情報を得ながら日々暮らしています。このような従来のインタフェースでは、視覚情報を得るためには画面に近づかなければならないという制約があったり、聴覚情報が周囲に漏れ聞こえてしまうという短所があったりします。これらを解決しながら空間を介した情報伝達を実現するため、音や光を活用したインタフェース技術を開発しています。 また、多くの現場ではいまだにコンピュータが入り込めていない実情もあります。そのような現場において、環境のデジタルトランスフォーメーションを推進したり、行き交うヒトやモノをモニタリングするソリューション開発を行っています。そこで集約されるデータにもとづいて、空間を機能的に活用しながら付加価値を高める取組みも進めています。

PxDT is developing technologies appropriate for the coming Digital Nature era. Currently, in our daily lives, we are accustomed to obtaining visual information from display screens and auditory information from speakers. Such conventional interfaces have constraints, such as needing to be near the screen to obtain visual information, or shortcomings such as leaked auditory information being overheard by people nearby. PxDT develops interface technologies using sound and/or light to solve the problems of these conventional interfaces and convey information via air. In addition, in many work sites, computers are still not adopted. At such work sites, PxDT are promoting digital transformation of the environment and developing solutions for monitoring people and things passing there. Based on the data collected there, PxDT are also working to use the space functionally.

PxDTは環境や状況によって千差万別な社会課題に対応するため、幅広い技術ポートフォリオを社内に持ち、適材適所の実装を行います。 PxDTが保有する技術を、近年発展が著しいデジタルファブリケーション技術や人工知能技術と組み合わせることによって、人とコンピュータの新たな関係性を作り出すことができると考えています。アカデミアの自由な発想にもとづく研究活動は、そのような技術を次々と生み出す研究エンジンとして機能することが期待され、PxDTは産学連携に力を入れています。特に筑波大学との特別共同研究事業「デジタルネイチャー推進戦略研究基盤」及び東北大学との共同研究は、アカデミア発の技術の社会実装を加速させる勝ち筋を探る取組みです。

PxDT makes the portfolio of a wide varitety of technologies and undertakes implementation with the right resources at the right places to respond to an infinite variety of social issues depending on environments and situations. It is possible to create a new form of association between humans and computers by incorporating digital fabrication and artificial intelligence technologies, which have rapidly advanced in recent years. PxDT is actively pursuing industry-academia collaboration, with the expectation that research activities in academia based on unconstrained ideas will function as a research engine to generate such technologies one after another. In particular, the special collaborative research program with University of Tsukuba, called “Strategic Research Platform towards Digital Nature powered by Pixie Dust Technologies,” and the collavorative research with Tohoku University are initiatives to accelerate social implementation of technologies originating from academia.
